ARP 250-5801 Main Studs
These main studs are need in the most extreme high horsepower builds. When installing ARP Head studs and rebuilding your engine ARP main studs are the next step in bullet proofing the 7.3 engine. The main benefit of Arp main studs in the 7.3 Powerstroke is by prevent main cap bearing walk due to harmonics in the engine. When completely rebuilding the 7.3 Powerstroke, ARP main studs are good insurance that a high performance 7.3l engine will be built right to handle the power. ARP Main Stud kits are made of premium grade 8740 alloy. The threads are rolled after heat treating, which gives them about 1000% longer fatigue life than most main bolts, heat treated to 180,000 psi.
It is for good reason that virtually every top professional engine builder relies on ARP Pro Series head studs for their all-out competition powerplants. Simply stated, there's not a better stud setup on the market today. ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to aircraft quality. Then, each stud is placed vertically in special racks and precisely heat-treated to 200,000 psi. ARP studs are thread rolled after heat-treat, which gives them about 1000% (that's ten times) better fatigue strength than those studs that are threaded prior to heat-treat (a very common industry practice). You won't find a better quality stud on the market from any other source.
